I.Description
The internal straight seam welder is an automated welding equipment specially used for welding straight seams inside workpieces. It is widely used in the internal longitudinal straight seam welding of cylindrical or tubular workpieces such as pipes, cylinders, and containers. It plays an important role in the manufacturing fields of pressure vessels, petrochemical equipment, boilers, automobile fuel tanks, hydraulic cylinders, etc.
II.Working process
The core of the internal straight seam welding machine is to use a mechanical structure to send the welding gun into the interior of the workpiece, align it with the longitudinal straight seam to be welded (such as the inner seam after the cylinder is butted), and then realize the welding process through automatic control:
- The workpiece is clamped and secured, ensuring the seam to be welded is horizontal or in a preset position.
- The welding torch, through an inward extension mechanism, is inserted into the workpiece and aligned with the weld seam starting point.
- The welding process is initiated, the welding power source generates an arc, and the welding wire is continuously fed and melted, while shielding gas is simultaneously emitted to isolate the air.
- The welding torch travels uniformly along the seam at a preset speed, with the molten metal filling the joint and forming the weld.
- When welding is complete, the welding torch automatically returns to its original position, and the workpiece is released and unloaded.

III.Features

The welding torch utilizes a servo drive and precision guide rails for high repeatability. When combined with the seam tracking system, accurate weld placement and aesthetically pleasing results are ensured, even with slight workpiece deformation or assembly errors.
- High Degree of Automation
From parameter setup and torch positioning to welding completion, the entire process is automated, minimizing the impact of manual operation on welding quality (such as uneven welds and leaky welds, which are common with manual welding). This makes it particularly suitable for mass production.
- Adaptable to Complex Working Conditions
The welding torch's compact design accommodates small-diameter barrels (some equipment has a minimum inner diameter of 100mm or greater) and can withstand the high temperatures of the welding area. Some equipment features anti-splash and dust-proof construction to extend the life of consumable parts.
- Stable Welding Quality
Precisely controlling welding parameters (current, voltage, speed, etc.) ensures uniform penetration, the absence of defects such as porosity and slag inclusions, and weld strength that meets industry standards .
