I. Main purpose

 

  1. Repair worn or damaged internal bores (such as hydraulic cylinders, ship stern shaft bores, and large bearing housings).
  2. Functionally strengthen the surface of internal bores by overlaying a layer of alloy material with special properties (such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature resistance).
  3. Achieve mass production and standardized production of internal bore overlay welding, ensuring stable quality and reducing reliance on highly skilled welders.

II. Working process 

 

1.Workpiece Clamping: Secure the workpiece to be welded (e.g., cylinder) horizontally or vertically onto the spindle clamp.

 

2.Parameter Setting: Based on the workpiece material, hole diameter, welding material, and thickness requirements, set the following on the touchscreen:

Spindle Speed ​​n (rpm)

Welding Torch Travel Speed ​​v (mm/min)

Welding Current, Voltage, Wire Feed Speed

Number of Weld Layers, Overlap Amount

 

3.Welding Torch Positioning: Manually or automatically insert the welding torch into the hole to the starting point and adjust the wire extension length and angle (usually the forward tilt angle).

 

4.Automatic Welding:

After startup, the workpiece rotates at a constant speed, while the welding torch moves at a constant speed axially.

The combined motion of these two movements creates a continuous spiral weld bead on the inner wall.

By controlling the ratio of rotational speed to travel speed, the pitch and overlap of the weld bead can be precisely controlled, ensuring a smooth and uniform weld bead.

After one or more revolutions, the equipment automatically terminates the weld and fills the crater.

 

5.Multi-layer welding: If a thicker layer is required, the equipment can automatically raise the welding torch by one layer height to perform the next layer of spiral welding. The direction can be opposite to the previous layer to reduce stress.

III. Main components

 

1.Specialized internal welding torch: The core component, usually slender and water-cooled, with an integrated conductive nozzle, gas lens, wire feed guide and protective gas channel.

 2.CNC system: PLC + human-machine interface (HMI), used for programming, storing welding process parameters, and controlling the coordinated movement of all axes.

3.A servo motor drives a lead screw to rotate, allowing the welding torch to move left and right within the adjustment mechanism, thus ensuring the welding torch's working position before welding.

4. Welding torch motion system: servo slide or gantry, controlling the axial (Z-axis), radial (X-axis) movement and oscillation of the welding torch.

 5.Wire feeding system: High-precision servo wire feeder, using small spools of fine wire, ensuring smooth and stable wire feeding without fluctuations. Rotation mechanism: Servo motor drives the welding head, causing the welding torch to rotate.

  3. Workpiece Size and Weight: Determines the load-bearing capacity, chuck size, and machine tool structure of the welding machine.
  4. Weld Overlay Location: Is it a straight hole, stepped hole, tapered hole, or end face? Is oscillating filler required?
  5. Weld Overlay Requirements: Thickness, width, single/multi-layer, dilution rate control requirements, and surface finish requirements.
