I.Basic Overview

The 5-axis hydraulic cylinder welder is a CNC welding machine primarily used for welding various specifications of hydraulic cylinders, such as piston rods, nozzles, and valve seats. Its CNC system controls movement in five dimensions, enabling precise control of the welding process. 

Mechanical Structure:

Typically, the machine utilizes three Cartesian axes and two rotary axes. For example, linear modules serve as the three coordinate axes (X, Y, and Z), and precision RV reducers serve as the two rotary axes (A and R). All five axes are driven by servo motors, and a mechanically adjustable three-stage welding gun clamping system is designed at the end of the A-axis, enabling easy clamping and angle adjustment of the welding gun.

Control System:

A five-axis CNC system combined with a PLC is typically used to control the entire machine. For example, the combination of a Japanese Omron PLC and a five-axis CNC system allows for trial-and-error programming, improving equipment reliability and ease of operation. The five-axis welding controller provides input/output (I/O) points for better control of fixtures, positioners, and other equipment.

Working Principle:

The CNC system controls the five-dimensional motions of the workpiece rotation, the welding gun's vertical and horizontal movements, and its CNC travel. During workpiece rotation, the distance between the welding gun and the workpiece remains constant, while the angle varies within a certain range, ensuring a consistent weld trajectory. For example, when welding a valve seat, the spindle's rotation speed varies with the workpiece's rotational position to ensure a consistent welding speed, thus ensuring weld quality.
