Working process
- A layer of granular flux is pre-applied to the welding area.
- The welding wire is continuously fed into the welding area through the welding gun (contact nozzle).
- An arc is ignited between the wire and the workpiece, burning beneath the flux layer, resulting in invisible arc light and virtually no spatter.
- The arc heat melts the welding wire and base metal, forming a molten pool. It also melts some of the flux, forming slag that covers the pool.
- The unmelted flux is recovered by a recovery system and can be reused.
- The metal behind the molten pool cools and solidifies, forming the weld. The slag above cools and forms a slag shell, which can be knocked off to reveal a bright, well-formed weld.

1.Hydraulic station:It enables the mandrel to be positioned quickly and accurately to the predetermined height to support and press the steel pipe or cylinder to be welded, ensuring uniform gaps between the groups; during the welding process, the system can reliably lock the mandrel position and provide stable back-up force to resist welding thermal deformation; after welding is completed, the mandrel can be controlled to descend smoothly away from the workpiece to prepare for unloading.
2.Control panel:The control panel of a submerged arc straight seam welder is the core human-machine interface for setting welding parameters and monitoring the process. Using the buttons, knobs, or touchscreen on the panel, the operator can precisely set key process parameters such as welding current, arc voltage, and welding speed, and control the start and stop of the welder and the operation of the wire feed mechanism.


3.Copper lining bar:First, its excellent thermal conductivity quickly removes welding heat, preventing burn-through and refining the weld metal grains; second, its preset groove shape can reliably support the molten weld metal, thereby forming a flat, smooth, and evenly shaped weld bead on the back of the workpiece, significantly improving welding quality and efficiency.
4.The hopper:Its primary function is to store and continuously deliver flux to the welding area. This flux covers the arc and weld pool during welding, effectively preventing air intrusion and oxidation and nitridation, significantly improving the quality and density of the weld. It also stabilizes the arc, reduces spatter, and improves the appearance of the weld.


5.The welding torch:Its primary function is to continuously and stably guide the welding wire from the wire feed mechanism to the weld zone, conducting the high welding current to the wire tip during this process. The end of the welding gun is also responsible for delivering flux, evenly coating the arc in front of it, thus forming a protective layer during welding, ensuring stable arc combustion and producing high-quality welds..
6.Flux recovery and transport system:Its core function is to recover and recycle flux. During the welding process, unmelted granular flux covers the weld. The system collects these loose fluxes through a powerful suction device (such as a recovery gun or nozzle), filters and purifies them, and then returns them to the hopper.
