I.Overview
A tank circumferential welder is a highly efficient automated device specifically designed for automatically welding circumferential welds on metal tanks (such as gas tanks, storage tanks, and pressure vessels). This equipment is primarily used for precision butt welding of the tank's cylindrical body to the end caps at both ends.
The circumferential welder automates and standardizes the welding process by employing a fixed welding torch and rotating workpiece, combined with a PLC or CNC system.
Depending on the material of the workpiece (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy) and the welding process requirements, this equipment is typically equipped with a gas shielded welding (MAG/MIG), argon arc welding (TIG), or submerged arc welding (SAW) power source.

III.Machine structures
1.Main Machine Bed and Transmission Mechanism
- Bed: Constructed from high-strength steel or cast iron, welded and subjected to aging treatment to relieve stress and ensure long-term stability.
- Spindle Headstock: Includes a variable frequency speed-regulating motor or servo motor, which drives the spindle to rotate the workpiece via a reducer. The spindle is equipped with clamping fixtures (such as a pneumatic chuck).
- Tailstock: Moves along the bed guide rails according to the workpiece length, used to hold the other end of the workpiece in place, ensuring concentricity during rotation. Typically, pneumatic or manual clamping is used.
2.Welding Operating Mechanism:
- Cross Carriage/Adjustment Mechanism: The welding torch is mounted on a precision linear guide slide, allowing for precise fine-tuning in vertical, horizontal, and forward/backward directions to accommodate offsets of different diameters and weld seam positions.
- Welding Torch Oscillator: For processes requiring wider weld seam coverage, an oscillator is provided, allowing for setting of oscillation amplitude, speed, and edge dwell time.
3.Electrical Control System:
- Based on a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), coupled with a touchscreen (HMI) human-machine interface. Operators can set parameters such as welding current, voltage, speed, and welding length on the touchscreen, and store multiple product recipes for easy recall during production changes.
- Features automatic welding start-point detection, welding arc termination (crater filling), and fault alarm functions.
4.Welding power source and wire feeding mechanism:
Select a suitable welding power source (such as OTC, Aotai, Panasonic, Lincoln, etc.) according to the process. The wire feeder stably pushes the welding wire to ensure stable arc combustion.
