Role: As a flexible motion unit, it precisely controls the posture, angle, and trajectory of the welding torch.

Requirements: Typically, a medium-sized arc welding robot with a load capacity of 6-20kg is selected, with high repeatability (approximately ±0.05mm) and a sufficient reach to cover the workpiece length.

Advantages: Compared to dedicated robots, the robot's programming is more flexible, adapting to the welding of piston rods of different specifications and weld seam types.

 

  • Dedicated Positioner (Coordinated Motion)

​​​​​​​Role: Head-and-tailstock positioners are standard configurations. The workpiece (piston rod) is clamped between the headstock (rotary drive) and the tailstock (clamping support).

Function: It works in conjunction with the robot (coordinated motion) to ensure the weld seam is always in the ideal flat welding (PA) position, ensuring a stable molten pool, aesthetically pleasing weld formation, and optimal quality.

Features: The tailstock is usually sliding to accommodate piston rods of different lengths; the chuck or fixture requires a high degree of concentricity design.

 

  • High-Performance Welding Torch and Wire Feeding System

Role: The welding torch, equipped with a precise water-cooling system to ensure stability during long-term continuous welding. Its specially designed nozzle and clamping mechanism enable precise weld seam alignment and stable shielding gas coverage. Combined with the robot's high repeatability positioning accuracy, it can efficiently complete uniform and high-quality welding of critical areas of the piston rod. Commonly used is MIG/MAG (gas shielded welding).

Wire feeding system: Equipped with a high-precision servo wire feeder to ensure stable wire feeding.

 

II. Working Process 

 

 

**Feeding and Positioning:** Manual or automated equipment places the piston rod blank into a specialized fixture, clamps it, and precisely positions it.

 

**Robotic Welding:** A welding robot automatically welds the piston rod weld seam (usually a circumferential weld or a specific path) according to a preset program, controlling welding parameters in real time.

 

**Process Monitoring:** Sensors monitor welding current, voltage, and temperature to ensure stable weld quality.

 

**Cooling/Cleanup:** After welding, the workpiece cools naturally or by force, removing weld slag if necessary.

 

**Unloading and Transfer:** The fixture is released, and the workpiece is removed by a robotic arm or manually and transferred to the next process.

 

III. Package 

 

 

1.Normally we will use fumigation plywood case for packaging; for some big machine, we can use steel pallet and plastic filme cover.All machines are paint with anti rust paint or oil before leaving factory.
