The double-ring welding machine for water storage tanks is a specialized automated welding device specifically designed for welding the two annular weld seams between the tank body and the upper and lower end caps of cylindrical water storage tanks.

The equipment adopts a horizontal structure. After the workpiece (tank body + end caps) is clamped, it is driven by a rotary drive mechanism to rotate at a uniform speed. The welding torch is fixed on a moving mechanism, achieving precise welding trajectory control. It is suitable for manufacturing water storage tanks made of carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials.

1.Welding torch clamping, adjustment and lifting mechanism

The welding torch is pneumatically driven to move back and forth, switching between the preparation and welding positions. The oscillating lifting mechanism consists of a stepper motor, ball screw, and linear guide rails. A CNC system controls the torch's oscillation frequency, amplitude, and lifting amplitude during welding, enabling arc voltage tracking.

 

2.Tailstock Mechanism

The tailstock mechanism consists of a tailstock and a cylinder clamping mechanism. The cylinder, mounted at the bottom of the tailstock, drives the entire tailstock clamping mechanism to move left and right, facilitating workpiece loading and unloading and ensuring stable clamping during the welding process.

3.Material support mechanism

The V-shaped material support block is installed on the elevator. The vertical movement of the entire mechanism can be adjusted via a handwheel. The cylinder is located above the elevator. When the equipment is started, the cylinder drops, causing the entire V-shaped material support block to fall. This, combined with the tailstock cylinder, clamps the workpiece securely and suspends it in the air, preventing scratches on the workpiece surface during rotation.

 

4.This mechanism employs an angled triangular chuck (customizable), integrally mounted on the end face of the welding equipment's spindle box, coaxial with the rotating spindle. It provides radial support and centering for the workpiece during welding. Simultaneously, through synchronous/independent adjustment of the three-jaw slider, it adapts to pipes and cylindrical workpieces of different diameters.

 

 

Manual loading → Pneumatic propulsion, welding torch lowers → Once in position, shielding gas is supplied → High voltage, slow wire feeding to ignite the arc → Workpiece rotation, welding torch oscillation, welding → Reaching the set length → Low current, low voltage to terminate the arc → Stop supplying shielding gas, after welding, release the workpiece → Open the sliding door → Unload.

 

 

* The welding torch is fixed, the workpiece rotates, and the welding position is horizontal.

* The workpiece is clamped and rotated by a fixture, supported by a universal roller bracket.

* The machine features high-voltage, slow wire feed arc ignition to ensure reliable arc ignition, and low-voltage, low-current arc termination to fill the crater.

* A push-type wire feed method ensures stable wire feeding.

* The welding torch is adjustable longitudinally to accommodate various welding types.

* The entire machine is controlled by a PLC; workpiece rotation is controlled by an AC servo motor with stepless adjustment, improving equipment reliability.

 

 

• This specialized machine is primarily used in the water tank manufacturing industry. Typical applications include:
• Fire water tanks: circumferential welding of the cylindrical body of carbon steel or stainless steel water tanks.
• Domestic water supply tanks: circumferential welding of butt joints for thin-walled stainless steel tanks.
• Chemical/environmental protection storage tanks: connection of end caps to the cylindrical body of small and medium-sized vertical or horizontal storage tanks.
• Solar water heater storage tanks: circumferential welding of the inner liner.
• Other similar cylindrical containers: circumferential welding of filters, gas tanks (non-pressure vessels).
